Queen Bee and The Blackhawk chilling at the Bay of Chickens while @kaypbing and myself took a relaxing swim.
Putting in some miles was just what I needed!
I've been in CO a while but it's my 1st visit to Colorado National Monument. It's worth the visit if you in the area.
34 days
5900 miles
Many friends visited
2 bodies of water swam in
1 parking ticket
One hell of an adventure!! PS: Many thanks to @ccnorris for feeding me DJ sets to listen too on a daily basis. It helped crush the miles. 😃👊
The Road East and Back - Day 26
Orlando, FL - Panama City Beach, FL - 384 miles
The start of my long trek back home to Denver. Thought I would slip in behind the storm moving North through the Gulf. Nope. Got soaked. Campsite was less than a 1/4 mile from the beach. It was worth the drenching for a great swim in the Gulf and an evening on the beach. Panama City Beach isn't quite as redneck as myrtle beach but it certainly has potential. Keep trying PCB, you'll get there.
The Road East and Back - Day 17
Charlotte, NC - Myrtle Beach, SC - 200 Miles
That day you finally reached the Atlantic ocean 🙂👍
The Road East and Back
Tail of the Dragon!
Bucket list item, Checked! The road was wet but not raining. Did that stretch of road both ways. 11 miles with 318 curves each way. What a great way to spend a day. I was glad to see some non Harley riders out and about. I will most likely fall for the tourist trap and purchase the pictures they took of me on the road. Glad it went well and safely 😁
The Road East and Back - Day 12
Fancy Gap, VA - Balsam, NC - ?? miles
Fog and Rain is what today was all about. 45 miles in fog on the Blue ridge Parkway and I lost so much time, I was forced to take highways the rest of the day. Made it to Asheville just in time for a rain storm. Well at least the campground is pretty and has an amazing bathhouse.
The Road East and Back - Day 11
Buena Vista, VA - Fancy Gap, VA - 180 miles.
1st half of the Blue Ridge Pkwy completed. I could have stopped and taken pictures at every overlook ORRRR I could have realized I brought the perfect tool to carve up some great curves. The bike got a workout today. No pics or videos, just the memory banks. The tent help up well in a pretty bad storm as well 😃
The Road East and Back - Day 10
Charleston, WV - Buena Vista, VA - 200 miles
I rode some beautiful country through West Virginia. The roads could use a little work, and the WV economy. I made a stop and the Greenbriar resort. If you are unfamiliar with it, Google it. It has a fascinating cold war history. Finally getting to use the tent for the first time. I'm excited to hit Blue Ridge Pkwy tomorrow!
The Road East and Back - Day 6
Fayetteville, WV
Visited the New River Gorge National River. Pictures dont do it the justice it deserves. Also fully flipped a 4 wheeler 😃
The Ride East and Back - Day 4
Charleston, WV
I let my inner redneck come out to play. 4wheeling in the mountains might be my new favorite activity!
The Road East and Back - Day 3
Mt Vernon, IL - Charleston, WV - 450 miles
It's amazing how much the scenery and the weather can change in 50 miles. Beautiful misty sunset drive into WV.
The Road East and Back Day 2
Topeka to Mt. Vernon, IL - 400 Miles
No memorable adventure is without a bit of adversity. About an hour East of St Louis, my clutch lever became basically inoperable. I was able to make it to the closest Yamaha dealer and they told me they could look at it in 4 weeks. After a couple more calls I was planning my flight back to Denver while the bike was repaired. One last call. HUGE shout out to Donelson Cycles in St Louis! Family owned business whole told me to come there and they would look at it right away. 20 min fix and I was road worthy again. Shop was started in the 60's by Mr. Donelson (who I met). His daughter took me on a tour of the amazing museum attached to the showroom. I never would have discovered this gem in St. Louis without some adversity. The adventure continues. 😃
PS: I need a haircut
