I happened to have my first Friday night off in months so I decided to go to an Avalanche game. For those of you who know me, I'm not much a sports guy. I don't pay attention to standings, stats, and I can't even name one of the players on the Avalanche. That all being said, I played a lot of sports growing up and I love going to sporting events of just about any kind.
Before we hit the game, we decided to hit Prohiition for some apps and drinks. I had seen this place on Colfax for the better part of a year but had never really been drawn to go there. This in fact has turned out to be a mistake. I have to admit that I saw it featured on the food network and it looked pretty good. We got a number of happy hour apps but the polenta was the best I have ever had.
A quick ride on the 16th St. mall shuttle and we were at the stadium 1/2 way through the 1st period. Found some tickets on the street for $35. They were upper deck roughly in the middle. The Pepsi Center is quite well designed and they're are not too many bad seats in the house. With hockey, I prefer to sit a little higher up so you can see the plays develop

The AFW blimp at the Pepsi Center
During one of the intermission the American Furniture Warehouse blimp decided to carpet bomb the lower sections with $25 gift certificates. Don't know what you can get there for $25 other than Subway.
This random guy next to me caught a shirt thrown from the Copper Mountain Ski Patrol. Good job hommie!
Random Dude
Av's won the night 3-1 against the Nashville Predators! All in all it was a great time and I left with a smile on my face about as big as this random dude.
Oh yeah. I also picked up a new kick ass Av's ball cap. Good stuff. :D
